Austin Texas Has A Brand New Craft Beer Brewery: South Austin Brewing Co. Opens For Business

Former Balcones brewer Jordan Weeks has set a date for his South Austin Brewing Co. grand opening party.

It will be Saturday February 11th from 2-7 pm

Weeks is specializing in Belgian-style ales so the party should be good and boozy with plentiful high abv style brews.

Austin Daily Photo: Taco Joint. New Taqueria On University Texas Campus From Owner Of Sao Paulo

For only the third time in my eating history am I so moved by the high level of cooking I've just eaten that I feel the need to inquire as to the marital status of the chef.

First time was at Wrights Cafeteria in Knoxville, Tennessee where I ate a bowl of banana pudding so profoundly delicious that I knew I could have a very good life with the lady who'd authored it.

Birth Notice: The Silo On 7th. New East Austin Restaurant

Precious little information out there now but The Silo On 7th street, over here in East Austin is moving along at a rapid pace with their buildout.

We will hopefully have more information soon but for now, a picture of what appears to be a significant undertaking.

Birth Notice: Pachamama's Peruvian Creole Cuisine. New East Austin Food Trailer

We were starving and decided to give Dirty Bird's Barbecue, the new food trailer, ostensibly selling barbecue in East Austin, another chance at feeding us.

Surprise!

Not open.

Birth Notice: Taco Joint. New Taqueria From The Folks Behind Sao Paolo On San Jacinto

There's been a lot of construction in the former flower shop between Posse East and Sao Paolo Brazilian restaurant on San Jacinto.

We walked in the other day and introduced ourselves to the two nice ladies overseeing the project.

We have a feeling we're going to be writing plenty about Rosie, the lead cook on the project and the taquera responsible for making both corn and flour tortillas from scratch daily.

Austin Daily Photo:Nomad Dosa Prepares To Open On The Hallowed Grounds Of Former Franklin Barbecue

We strive to bring our readers the best coverage of Austin's exploding food scene. We spent a couple hours this morning prowling Travis County looking for interesting photos as we continue to build our vast Austin Daily Photo archive.

Score.

Mere blocks from the scrumptious house we spotted a shiny new food trailer anchored down on the former Franklin Barbecue lot at the corner of Concordia and I-35.

Birth Notice: Your Mom's Burger Bar In Former El Dorado Meat Market

We'll be penning an obituary for El Dorado Meat Market soon enough but this article relates to the expansion of Your Mom's Burger Bar. The Cesar Chavez based burger house is coming to the eastern fringe of Hyde Park in mid February.

Birth Notice: Attention Austin Texas Area Vegans And Vegetarians Maoz From Amsterdam Is Open

We've lost count of how many times we've vacationed in Amsterdam. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 trips we reckon. It's a city that is fulfilling to the soul and the Dutch people rank at the top of our list when it comes to world favorites.

They're friendly pragmatists, just like the scrumptious crew.

Birth Notice: The Soup Coup. New East Austin Food Cart

Husband wife team Luke and Sarah Johanson are vending soup out of a diminutive food cart over on east 7th street near El Azteca.

We haven't been able to dig up a menu online but they're all over Twitter posting their daily menu and specials.

Everything they're tweeting sounds delicious and apparently if you pull up on a motorcycle and start taking pictures you're invited to join a secret society of free soup eaters [the nice lady in the cart hollered at me to see if I wanted a free sample but I had to beg off].

Follow them here https://twitter.com/#!/TheSoupCoup

We'll be popping in in the next few days to see what all the fuss is about.

Austin Daily Photo:Lenoir. New Restaurant From Four Seasons Alumnus Todd Duplechan

Anybody who studied under master chef Elmar Prambs is bound to be solid Texas gold. Todd Duplechan along with wife Jessica, are rehabbing the shuttered Somnio's cafe down in the exploding Bouldin Creek neighborhood to open their Lenoir restaurant.

We like the sound of what they're proposing to serve; "hot weather food". With Austin now achieving the dubious ranking of being one of the hottest towns in the Americas we need all the help we can get with our daily sustenance.
