It's Lent, so many among us have sworn off demon rum, red meat, chocolate or the normal pleasurable indulgences that we allow ourselves to shake off the torpor of this existence.

But nobody said anything about fried food. Below, we've compiled a helpful list of churches in the Greater Austin area that are hosting fish fries on Friday during Lent.

We can't vouch for the quality although we have known some fine Christian cooks over the years.Any Godless heathens reading? It's ok to continue down your path of turpitude, fried fish tastes good to the both the saintly and the damned.

The Knights of Columbus will be serving fried fish dinners for the first six Fridays of Lent at St Thomas More Catholic Church.

First one: Friday, March 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Activity Center.

St. John Neuman Catholic Church will also have the Knights of Columbus manning the fryers for their lenten food parties. First one: Friday March 7th and continuing all the way through Good Friday (April 18th) Chow goes down at 7pm

St John Vianney Catholic Church up in Round Rock is getting in on the lenten action with a fish fry tonight (March 7th 2014) at their Activity Center. 5-8pm. These will continue through Good Friday.

Lunch fish fry? San Jose Catholic Church has you covered for the seven Fridays of Lent. They're located at 2435 Oak Crest Austin Texas 78704. 11am 2pm and 5pm-7pm

Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at 1206 East 9th Street, 512-478-7955 is frying up Lenten fish plates starting tonight March 7th 2014 and continuing through Good Friday.

One of the coolest looking old stone churches in the Austin metro area: San Francisco Javier kicks off their Lenten fish fry parties at 9110 Hwy. 183 S. Austin Texas 78747 tonight March 7th 2014 and continuing through Good Friday.
