We'll be penning an obituary for El Dorado Meat Market soon enough but this article relates to the expansion of Your Mom's Burger Bar. The Cesar Chavez based burger house is coming to the eastern fringe of Hyde Park in mid February.
Airport Blvd is in revival with brand new ramen house Kome garnering raves from area eaters including the reclusive Matthew Odam, the Statesman restaurant critic who authors a restaurant review for the daily 4-5 times per year. It's here http://www.austin360.com/food-drink/dining/kome-helps-c
Your Mom's should be a big success if they just get the overflow from the next door/Tamale House. The Tex Mex legend's status as one of Austin's great, cheap meals is being further cemented on a daily basis as the mile long lunch lines attest.
Somebody should write an article about the plenitude of dining along Airport Blvd. There is an amazing mix of burgers, donuts, Korean, Japanese, pizza and a host of other options along this corridor.
With the city about to stick their nose in the infrastructure of the grand road we can expect to see a few of these old time Austin restaurants shuttered in the next couple years a la the e. 7th st debacle that shuttered La Monita.
ps: thanks to our readers who utilized the tipster button to let us know about Your Mom's new joint. We appreciate it.

But I have to say that I officially called it back in May: http://www.citysbest.com/austin/news/2011/05/03/au... So maybe they edited down my opening a bit, but I knew what was up for Airport as soon as House Pizzeria went in. Kome and Your Mama's have followed, and you can be sure a few of the tire shops will go foodie in the next couple of years.

thanks for the link, don't know how we didn't know about city's best, good site, lots of info, yep, the boulevard is up for some serious change, we reckon the city will go in, close all the access points to local biz for a year or two, suffocate the mom n pops and make it easier for deep pocketed investors to swoop in and get some franchises going.
