We have a deep love for a well equipped corner store complete with tiny hot counter off to one side. That New Orleans business model has not really taken hold here in Austin but at least we have Tomgro.
Walking in you have all the sundries one expects from a good quick mart with a huge variety of chips and drinks all with a Latin accent but the real star is the little lunch counter.
This is where we come to get fried pork chop tacos on corn tortillas with scratch red salsa. They even put a little layer of refried beans on the taco as a bit of lagniappe. Get a Topo Chico and a Mexican praline and you've got a sub $5 Mexican lunch beyond par.
