We’ve been lost in a research project of street names in the 9th Ward.

Philippe-François de Rastel de Rocheblave was born in France in 1727, he was one of 23 children. Perhaps the 9th Ward street named Rocheblave is named after him. Or his brother, Count Paul de Rastel de Rocheblave. Most historians lean towards the latter.

In 1760, Paul got into a brawl with Jean Louis du Billeau in New Orleans. Paul won the fight but Governor Kerlerec had him imprisoned for two years.
