Listen to Lee Tillman & Bud Stewart’s Top Notchers today.
Denham Springs native Lee Tillman was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010. Tillman was born in 1936 and clawed his way up through a different music industry than exists today.
When he got his first gig working for Buddy Stewart (Solomon Burke, Jackie Wilson) he was paid the handsome sum of $75 for a weekend of gigs. There are musicians working in New Orleans right now that are sadly not pulling in that much over a given weekend.
Pick up that new Ric and Ron Records anthology and fall down the Louisiana music rabbit hole. You’ll be glad ya did.
