9th Ward Daily Photo: Pierre Clément de Laussat Place
Pierre Clément de Laussat Place is a short street near our home in the 9th Ward. Pierre Clément de Laussat formally took control of Louisiana from Spain for France on November 30 1803 but quickly handed it over to the U.S. on December 20th of the same year.
In the 19th century Laussat had a street named for him along Bayou St John but after 30 years the roadway was renamed Moss Street. It still holds the name today.
