RL Reeves Jr reports on the world of beer

Summit Brewing is suing two former employees. Jeffrey Spaeth who worked for the company for 30 years, and Timothy Daly another former, long-term worker are facing allegations of “conspiring to sell the company’s confidential trade secrets to high-level executives for “a direct competitor.” That competitor is unnamed.

“I know this sounds arrogant and might not be right,” Mikkel Borg Bjergsø told Bier Versuche. “But I always say you can train a monkey to brew a beer.” That didn’t sit too well with the young rebels at Brouwerij ‘t Verzet in Anzegem, Belgium. Alex Lippens, and Koen Van Lancker responded by producing a brew titled “Scandinavian Pussy” saying of Bjergsø “He’s a Scandinavian Pussy because he is too scared to run his own brewery.” Nice longread here.

Guys Drinking Beer is one of our favorite beer blogs. They recently issued a report on their favorite beers of 2016.

If you had $200, and plenty luck you may have been allowed to purchase two 22-ounce bottles of Toppling Goliath’s 2016 Assassin and one bottle of Kentucky Brunch Brand Stout last week. Oh, and you got some glassware.

“People buy products not only for what they can do, but also for what they mean,” Sidney Levy wrote in 1959. Bryan Roth goes deep on rare beers.
