We get it. It’s a huge production that takes thousands of man-hours to pull off and every other year is easier on the good doctor.
But on off years what are we supposed to do? Go to Siberia to see a metal band that comes on at 2:30 in the morning?
To answer the call from New Orleans’ rock and roll cognoscenti, Ike has created a baby Stomp with headliner-quality acts running three nights straight at the 3 Keys venue inside Ace Hotel (600 Carondelet) Street in downtown.
Night one: Friday Oct 14th, Leo “Bud” Welch. Old Mississippi blues man with the Fortifiers opening. (free)
Night two: Sat Oct 15th, Barbara Lynn, the pride of Beaumont, Texas headlines with Roy Head, the madman from San Marcos, Texas and Li’l Buck and the Buckaroos opening. If you live in Louisiana you know that Li’l Buck is one of the top players in the entire state and Roy Head is out of his mind. He goes completely ape during his concerts. ($ tickets)
Night three: Daddy Long Legs headlines with New Orleans local Lightnin’ Lee opening things up (free)
We haven’t visited the Ace yet but we’ve been looking for a good excuse. Now we have one. Hope to see y’all out there.
