At The Kentucky Fried Chicken Museum In Corbin Kentucky

The Chicago Tribune broke a story yesterday that has the state of Kentucky in an uproar. Joe Ledington, a Corbin, Kentucky native who is a nephew to Colonel Sanders shared the original Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe with a writer for the paper. For decades the old recipe has lived in a scrapbook that once belonged to Sanders wife Claudia. Ledington inherited the scrapbook four years ago upon the passing of his sister.

Ledington lives in our hometown of Corbin, the site of the first KFC, and worked there when he was a young man. We present the recipe here:

 

11 Spices – Mix With 2 Cups White Fl.

1]  2/3 T. Salt

2]  1/2 T. Thyme

3]  1/2 T. Basil

4]  1/3 T. Origino (sic)

5]  1 T. Celery Salt

6]  1 T. Black Pepper

7]  1 T. Dried Mustard

8]  4 T. Paprika

9]  2 T. Garlic Salt

10]  1 T. Ground Ginger

11]  3 T. White Pepper
