Her Roth Grand Cru Surchoix was deemed best of show by a panel of judges that included such luminaries of the cheese world as Jean Luc Boutonier (France) Benedicte Coude (France) Jo Penders (Netherlands) and Craig Gile (Vermont).
Johannes Schefer of Switzerland’s Urnäscher Hornkuhkäse was the second best cheese in the show while Team Lutjewinkel of Netherlands came in third with their Friesland Campina Export.
2,995 cheeses were entered into the competition that boasted 110 categories.
Roths’ Grand Cru Suchoix is an alpine-style cheese with a flavor akin to gruyere.
Congratulation Emmi Roth on your victory and please ship some of your cheese to New Orleans. We bet it would go great on breakfast tacos.
