Fiesta Is the Best Party In Texas

We’ve always marveled over the ‘Keep San Antonio’ lame tee shirts that plenty people in south Texas like to wear. There’s nothing lame about San Antonio. The city has the richest history in all of Texas; the Mexican food is without parallel in USA, and Doug Sahm, the greatest Texas musician of all time came up on the city’s streets.

We love San Antonio.

Yesterday, as part of Fiesta, San Antonio’s city-wide festival, an outfit called The Happy Foundation hosted the 2016 San Antonio Chili Queens Chili Cook Off at the Bonham Exchange, an old gymnasium that is a somewhat faded, once-epicenter for queer culture in Bexar County.

This has got to be the only 18+ chili cook-off in the state of Texas.

As the competition is welcoming to transsexuals (and includes a drag component) perhaps the Foundation feels the need to protect li’l Ray Ray’s naive eyes from the hurly burly of the affair?

Rachel Barrios-Van Os won first place with her “Mama Rue Rae’s Caliente” chili

The Chili Queens Chili Cook-off is in its 10th year as an event.

The event was presided over by Joan Duckworth, Chili Queen Commissioner.

Joan Duckworth truely puts her heart into this event and she is a true supporter when it comes to helping people. She deserves a medal herself.
