Alongside Sputnik Monroe (born Rocco Monroe DiGrazio) and Jackie Fargo (born Henry Faggart) the Oblivans stand as the most significant export to ever venture out of Memphis, Tennessee. Back in the 90s we regularly rambled across the South to see these men destroy rock and punk music clubs in towns like Athens, New Orleans and Tuscaloosa.
We’ll never forget one punk explosion they detonated at the legendary Tuxedo Junction Ballroom in the forgotten steel town of Ensley, Alabama.
And tonight they’re playing Austin.
Our list of don’t miss shows is a short one: Gasaneda, Redd Kross, High Rise…maybe one or two others, but the Oblivians have an entrenched spot due to their high volume, raucous take on Memphis rock and roll.
Hope to see y’all out.
