Once in a great while a cultural milestone comes along that has nothing to do with food yet still must be celebrated by the Scrumptious Chef site.
This is one of those times.
Tex Avery died all the way back in 1980 but his hometown, Taylor, is just now getting around to honoring the great man.
The town’s leaders have declared next Saturday February 22nd 2014 to be Tex Avery Day!
The greatest animation director in the history of the form will be feted at an affair beginning at 2pm at the historic Howard Theatre in downtown Taylor.
Tex Avery built the foundation that modern cartoons stand upon (he graduated high school in 1926.) Just 10 short years later he was a director at Warner Brothers overseeing a unit that included another legend: Chuck Jones.
Tex was a giant in the field.
Hope to see y’all out at this once in a lifetime event.
