Confidence man Michael Angelo Carrion aka Nicholas Angelo swept across Austin last spring hornswoggling restaurants by pretending to be a fire inspection officer and demanding cash money for his work. Wholly Cow and Ruby Thai Kitchen both fell prey to the fast talking hustler.
Carrion’s luck ran out in California recently. After smooth talking an unnamed Santa Barbara restaurant out of more than $900, the local police department’s crime technicians recovered fingerprints from the scene and determined that it was Carrion who had arrest warrants in New York, Georgia and Texas.
An especially savvy detective also ascertained that Carrion would not be that hard to track down as he was already in jail in Los Angeles on an unrelated charge.
Michael Angelo Carrion was then extradited to New York to face charges there.
One imagines he’ll be on something of an extradition tour soon as the various states where he’s wanted will be clamoring for him.
