Austin, Texas and Lima Peru are officially sister cities.

There must be a whale of a Peruvian diaspora in Austin, as the turnout for Tamale House East’s 1st Peruvian pop up food party back in January was enormous. A good 200 people crowded into the restaurant to decimate the cuisine trotted out by the Peruvian chefs who had commandeered the kitchen for the night. It’s a distance of nearly 6k miles between Austin and Lima so unless you’re a high roller you may want to consider rolling down 6th street this Saturday May 18th 2013 for Peruvian Pop Up Part 2.

The menu reads like a dream with Ceviche, Aji de La Gallina, Seco de Carne, Causa Limena de Pollo, Papa Rellena, Arroz con Pollo, Chicha Morada, and Flan.

With the closure of Pachamama’s Peruvian Creole Cuisine last year, we’ve been at loose ends for our Andean mountain cuisine so we’re chuffed for this bacchanal.

Dr. Juan Valera-Lema, a native of Lima Peru, who has taught classes on his country’s cuisine, will be overseeing the kitchen for this event.
