Katy Vine got famous earlier this year with her magnum opus on John Mueller Barbecue and Franklin Barbecue titled “The Greatest Barbecue Story Ever Told,” the article garnered wide acclaim across the US as being a splendid example of long form journalism.

Now, Ms. Vine has spoken on the Mueller scandal {http://www.scrumptiouschef.com/food/2012/10/31/Explosion-In-The-World-Of-Austin-Texas-Barbecue-John-Mueller-Out-Of-JMueller-BBQ} that has gripped the world of Austin, Texas smoked meat for the past 24 hours. “Barbecue Cook John Mueller Finds Himself in Another Tough Spot” is the title of her piece in today’s Texas Monthly Daily Post. During the course of the article, Vine details allegations that were swirling for the past day as Austin barbecue lovers were glued to their computer screens while the drama played out on Twitter, Shaggybevo, Tumblr, Pinterest and probably a few other social media sites that we’re unaware of.

Vine relates that John Mueller’s sister LeAnn has filed a police report against John alleging embezzlement. Vine then goes on to report John and LeAnn’s brother’s Wayne Mueller’s Twitter-based attacks against John as the allegations surfaced.

Ugly business.

Vine concludes the article by mentioning that a police investigator will decided the next step.

We rolled down to Bouldin Creek, the neighborhood where JMueller BBQ resided for the past year, this morning to get the lay of the land. The big smoker sat cold, the signage for the business had handwritten placards taped to them announcing that new management is reopening the business this Saturday.
