D Magazine just announced their winners in the Best of Big D “top picks from the worlds of entertainment, arts, and media in Dallas.”
Architect, meat lover and blogger/writer Daniel Vaughn emerged with the victory for Best Blog for his Full Custom Gospel BBQ website. Bear in mind that the man won while being two hundred miles north of the most fertile ground of barbecue in the United States: Central Texas. Vaughn makes do the best he can with Lockhart Smokehouse, Katy Trail Ice House, Pecan Lodge and a few others that are putting out high level meat. Imagine what he could do if he lived in Travis County, where we’re thirty minutes from half of the top ten barbecue shacks in the whole of the United States?
Congratulations Daniel Vaughn. Looking forward to the book next year.

UPDATE: Vaughn just gave local malcontent John Mueller the much vaunted 6 Star rating. That means it’s at least twice as good as the highest ranked Michelin restaurants on earth which can barely eke out 3 stars-even if it’s $300 buck a head. http://fcg-bbq.blogspot.com/2012/07/jmueller-bbq.html
