We had ourselves a time at a recent visit to Barley Swine, Bryce Gilmore of Odd Duck fame’s, year old restaurant down in South Austin.

With Odd Duck’s closure we’ve been at loose ends when it comes to getting our south Austin, local pig plates prepared with care-fix.

We ran the table at Gilmore’s little joint and although the meal was not flawless we did manage to get fed well and leave in a state of good humor [brought along nicely by the carefully curated micro-brew list ]. The Gilmore family is taking over with dad Jack out in Oak Hill killing the suburbanites with his take on the Texas classics http://www.scrumptiouschef.com/food/2011/7/29/Best-Tex-Mex-Restaurant-In-Austin-Part-Four-Jack-Allens-Kitchen-Friday-July-29th-2011
