The Hughson Meat Company has burned.

Perhaps most famous for introducing the Charolais breed of cow to Central Texas consumers, it also played an interesting role in the career of University of Texas Hall of Honor baseball player Tex Hughson by virtue of the fact that his father, Pop Hughson, founded the company in 1946.

The historic meat house had shuttered prior to the fire and was in the process of being renovated.
