A while back we issued a call for Austin Texas food bloggers to tell us about their websites. We were stuck on the same ol same ol and wanted some new blogs to read to keep up to date on what all is happening in Austin’s explosive food scene.
We’re glad we did. Once we got banned from Chowhound [http://www.scrumptiouschef.com/food/2011/11/18/Scrumptiouschef-Hits-The-Big-Time-Thrown-Off-Chowhound-For-Once-And-For-All] we realized we had a little extra time on our hands to read local websites and gather tips on where we should be eating, drinking and hanging out. Our readers responded with some excellent suggestions.
Here are ten websites that we recently harvested, in no particular order:
1] http://leavemetheoink.wordpress.com/ A humorous blog with a focus on swine, particularly Mangalitsa.
2] http://chelsniccuisine.blogspot.com/ A kinesioligist looks at food, apparently comes from a family who share her obsession with eating.
3] http://adventureswiththealwayshungry.blogspot.com/ I like pie. Outrageous hats. Ella Fitzgerald. Bread and butter. Dancing. Paris.
4] http://atxmole.wordpress.com/ Started strong but may have vanished
5] http://lisaiscooking.blogspot.com/ Compelling photography and loads of good quality recipes.
6] http://austinfoodbloggers.org/ An Austin organization dedicated to assisting our area’s food bloggers. Like WC Fields, we wouldn’t want to belong to a group that would have someone like us as a member.
7] http://austingastronomist.com/ Pro site with lots of good recipes and reports on the Austin food scene.
8] http://www.atasteofkoko.com/ this gal has an unrivaled lust for life and food. Her “about me” made us want to engage in a bullfight.
9] http://tastytouring.com/ We hear Bart’s still showing up at cocktail bars in Austin wearing our twelve pounds of gold.
10] http://foodieisthenewforty.blogspot.com/ Local attorney likes cooking, eating out and relaxing with her hound dog.
