Rainey Street is set to explode. We hope that Bridget Dunlap, the visionary who saw the quiet side street hard-up against the southern edge of downtown Austin, as a potential nightlife district has shored up her flanks.

The barbarians are at the gates. We spent a sunny afternoon down on Rainey the other day just walking around and chatting with work crews who were busy on a good 7 or so projects.

We reckon a lot of ancient houses down in the old neighborhood are in the middle of being converted into restaurants and drinkeries.

One of them being Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden. We’ve been documenting the sausage and hot guts scene in Austin for almost a decade and we’re always excited to have a new joint working in the trade.

We’ll be following this establishment closely.
