RL Reeves Jr is always hard at work for the people. Even when recreating, the pad and pen is always handy so story ideas that come out of nowhere [generally fueled by Pearl beer and good company] can be converted into articles to keep Austin better informed. And now even the local heavyweights, Eater, are taking notice of the labor that goes into covering Austin’s insurgent scene.
Check out the following: Take a walk down burgeoning Rainey Street with RL “Chowpapi” Reeves, Jr., who scopes out several of the bars-in-progress in the downtown neighborhood. Don’t be fooled by the headline–“Bridget Dunlap, The Tigress Of Rainey Street Set To Face Off Against Slew Of Entrepreneurs”–there’s no epic bar battle here, just photos of works in progress, about which Reeves opines over their various states of (dis)repair. He’s pumped about El Naranjo but doesn’t think much of this Rainey Street Bar place: “At least if anyone ever tries to find any information on this establishment they’ll have right at 700,000 options on google search.”
Chest swelling with pride over at the scrumptious house about right now. We’d love to just sit back and bask in the glory but we’ve got to build a fire out back for that big batch of gator sausage thawing in the fridge.
Red Beans and Rice with Alligator sausage recipe coming up later today y’all.
