We started a notorious affair with Rio Rita years back upon their opening. Austin has a wealth of bars and clubs but we’d never had a place that was such an open homage to the greatest of all American cities; New Orleans. We come here for the best jukebox on the East Side of Austin, hot-cheap pizza from East Side Pies, strong cocktails from a staff who knows how to pour, a quiet patio on overcast mornings, a raucous patio on cool evenings and most importantly, great little dark corners for epic moments of canoodling.

We have a need for all these attributes in our bars but very few can fulfill us in all respects. Particularly the canoodling part. A dim corner, a few rounds of strong drinks and the date always gets a lot more interesting.

Cheers to Rio Rita and the man who invented the dimmer switch.
