During the run up to this article we really began to wonder if we were going to be able to fill all 5 spots. Yes, there are lots of Texas barbecue blogs but we wanted high value, high signal to noise ratio websites filled with articulate writing and good quality photography.

It’s a tough world when you walk down the path with all these factors in mind.

In no particular order we give you our top 5: Kevin’s Barbecue Joints: A recent move to the Lone Star state should enhance California native Kevin’s ability to better cover the Texas scene. Ol boy is working at one of our top joints, JMueller BBQ and the owner is a notorious task master, so we’re not sure how much off-time this blogger will have to ride around taking pictures and eating meat. http://kevinsbbqjoints.com/

Full Custom Gospel BBQ: Power blogger Daniel’s work is evolving nicely. He’s paying more attention to his words and it shows as his writing has improved in the last couple years. He’s authored nigh onto 500 reviews of Texas barbecue joints and is in the process of also authoring a book on the subject. http://fcg-bbq.blogspot.com/

Texas Monthly BBQ: The 900lb gorilla of Texas magazines jumped feet first into the modern world with their launch of a barbecue app for smart phones. The barbecue portion of their website is largely crowd-sourced with reviews popping up all day long from people all over the state. Photography, under the “BBQ Joints” marque is insanely good. http://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq

Scrumptiouschef: Who was it said “we don’t like to toot our own horn but….toot- toot.”While it’s true that this site is not a barbecue blog per se there is still an awful lot of smoked meat coverage on the site. If purple prose and long ramblings that go woefully off-topic are your thing then this should be one of your favorite sites. http://www.scrumptiouschef.com/food/Barbecue

We’re leaving the fifth spot blank for right now. We’re way into crowd sourcing of late and we know we’re going to get a lot of responses on this topic. Hell, we’d love to turn this into a full top ten Texas barbecue blogs article and will be more than happy to do so if warranted.

Tell us about your favorite Texas barbecue blog and please provide a hot link so we can take a look at it.
