One of Austin’s biggest food parties is this weekend at St. Elias Church on 11th st. This event has been celebrated each year since 1932 and features the food of several different Mediterranean countries, most prominently Greece. We’re still pining for Ted’s Greek Diner, the old classic Greek soul food joint where we would dash in and fuel up on souvlaki or Greek roasted chicken for lunch.
We have modern Greek in town now but these simple homey classics are hard to come by around these parts.
So if you’re in the mood for some Greek soul food this might be a good party for you to attend.
Tickets are $5 and the event runs from 6-midnight October 7th and 8th 2011
