Has it really been four years since Prince commandeered the stage at Belmont for a rave up set with Grupo Fantasma? Seems like yesterday.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. The Belmont has shuttered.

While it’s true that the strains of “Nothing Compares 2 U” have long since died out we figured the club/restaurant/cocktail lounge/patio bar still had a little life left in it.

After all, it was a mainstay.

But even mainstay’s time in the sun must draw to a close. We’re left with little more than a particularly poignant memory of a high level bacon/bleu burger the ol gal put out for us many years ago.

It will be interesting to see what deep pocketed investors wade into the fray as this parcel of land is beyond prime.

Can’t bear the thought of the new regime getting rid of those amazing tufted banquettes from the main barroom.

This is RIP #20
