Is being the best Italian restaurant in Austin the equivalent of being the best ballerina in Galveston?
Are we damning La Traviata with faint praise? We think not. There are few restaurants where you may peer in the kitchen and see the chef in a high dollar dress and heels owning the saute’ line-a sight you just might see at La Traviata.
Chef Marion Gilchrist puts out the best pasta carbonara in town. We like to sit at the very front table by the window overlooking the sidewalk where you can pretend you’re in a big city.
Then you puncture your perfectly cooked sunny side egg and all bets are off.
