Ran down to the Rio Grande Valley to garner some information on barbacoa technique from the masters of Vera’s Backyard Bar-B-Que this past weekend.
During the ramp up to the trip we did some research on who was putting out the best food in the region and one name kept coming up: Las Cazuelas in Harlingen.
The wags had it right.
Las Cazuelas is putting out some very good food including upper percentile flour tortillas and righteous queso flameado.
Two dollar margaritas, made right, lend added appeal.
One wall of the interior is filled with gorgeous Aztec murals, the other, various film stars and politicos from Mexico’s past.
In business since 1983.
