Although I’ve shopped at El Dorado for years, my favorite memory of the market has nothing to do with their food.
A few years back El Dorado decided to put a tiny taqueria in their store. As they share the same parking lot as Tamale House this didn’t go over so well with Bobby Vasquez, Tamale House’s owner.
The El Dorado owner and Vasquez took the dustup to the media with the owner of El Dorado accusing Vasquez’ food of not being “Mexican enough”.
The last time I visited El Dorado, the grill was not in service although in the past I have had good tacos there. Perhaps they were just taking a break.
This is a small full service meat market with good prices and high turnover so you know the flesh is fresh.
