Robb Walsh won his third James Beard award for food journalism Friday night in Las Vegas. Mr Walsh’s accomplishments are many:

Owner of El Real Tex Mex Cafe in Houston.

Founder of Austin’s Hot Sauce Festival.

Writer of 9 books on a variety of cuisines the most important being Tex Mex and Barbecue. Founding member of Foodways Texas.

International eater and father of a pretty good writer in her own right; Katie Walsh.

Robb Walsh won his third Beard for a piece he co-authored with Rick Bragg and Francine Maroukian for Garden and Gun magazine “The Southerner’s Guide To Oysters”.
