Just for laughs we rolled by Franklin Barbecue on opening day to take a gander at a scene that would surely evoke memories of the first time The Who toured the United States a few decades ago. Yep, pit boss Aaron Franklin’s cult of smoked meat personality has survived being confined to a brick and mortar operation and a large “SOLD OUT” sign was tacked to the front door.We then motored on over to Sam’s Barbecue and had a splendid meat lunch.

The brisket, sausage and smoked chicken were all top flight as befits a restaurant of Sam’s stature.
