Angel Biscuits: A Kentucky Delight Sent Straight from Heaven
Like most Southerners I grew up on a steady diet of homemade biscuits and cornbread. My parents were a potent tag team in the kitchen with my dad’s mastery of cornbread complementing my mom’s ability to make biscuits out of anything (I never saw her do it but I imagine she could make a mean batch out of little more than spit and dust)
The best of all these? Angel biscuits or Mayonnaise biscuits as they are also known. Even if your abilities in the kitchen are limited to opening up a can of Hungry Jack, I’m betting with a little practice you can whomp up a batch of Angel Biscuits with little effort.
They are that easy.
Recipe: Angel Biscuits
Ingredients:
3 cups flour,self rising
6 tbsp mayonnaise
1.5 cups milk
Method:
Preheat to 350 degrees
Spray a 12 hole muffin tin thoroughly with Baker’s Joy
Mix the three ingredients just til they’re incorporated
Scoop the batter into the tin
Wiggle the tin back and forth a bit to settle the batter
Bake for 30 minutes or til biscuits are nicely browned
The aroma of baking bread will drive your family wild
These biscuits can be stuffed with anything from fried baloney to blackberry jam
They are wonderful
